What is LAM?

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a progressive and frequently fatal lung disease that affects almost exclusively women, usually during their childbearing years.

LAM is characterized by the unusual type of muscle cell that invades the tissue of the lungs. Over time, these cells form bundles which grow into the walls of the airways, causing them to become obstructed.

Visit the LAM Foundation Web site for more information about this rare lung disease.
